Medcom has chosen a few to present to you here. There are two basic categories, coolers, sometimes called with the slang term of "buckets", that use a mixture of ice and water. They need to be recharged with ice between every three (3) fours, to every ten (10) hours depending on model chosen and method of use. These models are by far the most economical choice, starting at $145.00 and reaching $425.00 for the top-of-the -line. The premier models use water and use electrical cooling systems to chill the water. One is variable with a myriad of adjustments, monitors and controls, and one is basic and simple with one button - on/off. These are very expensive to rent or buy. You plug them in and top up the water every few weeks or so. They are very simple to maintain, but very expensive. There is a large dichotomy in models for the Thermos models to the self-chilling models with no in-between. May we help you with your rehabilitation? Cold Therapy (CryoTherapy) Equipment

Cold therapy is used in physical therapy departments, rehabilitation clinics, operating rooms, pain centers, and many other health-care environments. Whether used postoperatively or for musculoskeletal injuries -- acute or chronic -- cold therapy provides a clinically effective solution for edema and pain.

The Patient Intake Form asks what size pad, and what joint the pad is needed for. The pads are available in sizes from a small 3" x 5", 5" x 10", and a 10" x 18" for backs. There is a pad that is specifically for the knee, and one for the shoulder. The ice lasts 5-10 hours, depending on which product you choose and then needs to be refreshed, BUT, the cost savings is substantial, and the patient owns the cooler after they have finished their rehabilitation.
